CORONA DEL MAR, California – February 13, 2011 – Southern California-based travel photography instructor and author (www.OnTravelPhotography.com), Ralph Velasco, has just released his much awaited iPhone app. My Shot Lists for Travel (www.MyShotLists.com) provides the ideal organizational tool for photographers of all levels to create and track a more well-rounded and interesting set of photographs, whether traveling around the world or around the corner.

• Packed with over 50 wide-ranging categories for travel photography, such as Landscapes, People, Architecture, Markets, Natural Wonders, Landmarks and more;
• Includes comprehensive descriptions and sample images for each category;
• Assists users in creating custom shot lists for any destination, subject or shooting environment;
• Complete with suggested shot lists for City, National Park, Safari and Town or Village;
• The My Data feature seamlessly makes use of internal camera capabilities and lets users create a visual list of photos, complete with notes;
• Accepts users’ Notes for each category to recall vital details or reminders;
• The Challenge Me feature tests users’ creativity by randomly selecting a category to focus on;
• Provides a framework for developing a well-rounded assortment of travel images.

“My Shot Lists for Travel is based on a class I teach called Capturing the Essence of a Place. In it, I outline the importance of adhering to a fundamental principle of photography, that of working from a shot list. Doing so takes the guess work out of whether or not you’ve thoroughly covered a destination or subject and increases the odds that you’ll return with a complete set of images that truly creates an overall sense of a place for the viewers of your photography,” Velasco said.

Available for both the iPhone and iPod Touch via iTunes or the App Store, My Shot Lists for Travel integrates into even the most casual photographer’s routine. It should be a part of any traveler’s app suite and will have users’ friends and family asking them to share a portfolio, website or slideshow, not the other way around!

by Dave Warner on September 21, 2010

LensFlare 35 is a photography podcast brought to you by Dave Warner. This week, Dave interviews Travel Photographer Ralph Velasco. Ralph’s interest in photography has stemmed from his various travels and dates back to his first trip to Europe. On it he took a simple compact film camera and was able to capture his first images of the Old World.

Ralph has traveled to over 40 countries on five continents, and has enjoyed scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef; parapenting near Queenstown, New Zealand; wine tasting in and around Mendoza, Argentina and hiking throughout the European Alps and Andes.

In this episode, Ralph talks about how the travel market has changed, how he has had to adjust his business model, toughest country to photograph in, tips for today's market, opportunities that may still exist, guided tours, photo tours and a lot more. We created a multi-media show of his images with an explanation of each one with the full podcast interview (above) and our typical show player and download, which is below.
