One of the toughest things in photography, and particularly Landscape Photography, is finding those ’special locations’ to go to so that you can get the best images. This section is going to highlight just some of those fantastic spots! The recommendations will come from the readers, and if there is a guide involved, then we’ll put their contact information on the site, and try and do a podcast interview with them so that you can call them for your next photo excursion.
Here’s one to start with. Antelope Canyon, Slot Canyons - they go by many names, but what a fantastic location to shoot in! I used Chief Tsosie and his Antelope Slot Canyon Tours company and went along with a couple of other photographers for my guided experience through that part of Arizona.
Ray is a REAL Navajo Chief, and the stories he tells about the land while playing the flute are just fantastic. I don’t think they can even be described in a blog post. You would have to be there; quiet, cool, setting up your camera and having that ancient tune just floating through the canyons. You can almost feel the Native American spirits come alive when he plays and his cousin joins in from an adjoining canyon with a different type of flute and an echo of the original tune. Fantastic…
For more information, contact Ray Tsosie at 928.645.5594, visit their website at www.antelopeslotcanyon.com or email the Chief directly.
