LensFlare 35 is a weekly show brought to you by Dave Warner. This week, Dave interviews wildlife photographer Moose Peterson. A Nikon Legend Behind the Lens, Lexar Elite Photographer, recipient of the John Muir Conservation Award, Research Associate with the Endangered Species Recovery Program, published in over 130 magazines worldwide, author of 23 books and lecturing across the country to thousands upon thousands of photographers barely covers the work and goals of wildlife photographer Moose Peterson.
One of the original Nikon shooters to receive the D1 in 1999, Moose embraced this new technology becoming the only wildlife photographer in the world to shoot strictly digital in the early years.
In this episode, Moose talks about aviation photography, shooting the Reno air races, what’s fueled his passion, his fondest memory of a wildlife shoot, what animal he has NOT successfully been able to capture and much more. We created a multi-media show of his images with an explanation of each one with the full podcast interview (above) and our typical show player and download, which is below.
Equipment, Software and sites mentioned in this podcast: Nikon 200 - 400 mm VR lens, Nikon 500 mm lens, Nikon 600 lens, Nikon 1.7 teleconverter, Nikon 1.4 teleconverter.

LensFlareLive is a show created and brought to you by Dave Warner. In this week’s episode, panelists Juan Pons, Rick Sammon and Hal Schmitt discuss wildlife photography and other topics. In addition, they answer questions that came in via email, Twitter and from the live listening audience.
As a nature and wildlife photographer, Juan Pons is a strong supporter of wildlife and natural habitat conservation and is a member of several conservation organizations. Juan, his wife Abby, and their son Nathaniel live in North Carolina. Although much of his photography is focused on native wildlife in North Carolina, Juan and his family also travel frequently to other regions of interest, such as Yellowstone National Park, Puerto Rico, New England, and the Southwestern states. Juan never ceases to be amazed by the natural subjects he photographs and hopes that sharing his photographs will inspire others to appreciate and respect natural life.
Canon Explorer of Light Rick Sammon has published 36 books, including Exploring the Light and Digital Photography Secrets. His book, Flying Flowers won the coveted Golden Light Award, and his book Hide and See Under the Sea won the Ben Franklin Award. Rick, who has photographed in almost 100 countries around the world, gives more than two-dozen photography workshops (including private workshops) and presentations around the world each year. Rick also hosts five shows on kelbytraining.com. He also writes for PCPhoto magazine. Rick, who has been nominated for the Photoshop Hall of Fame, is considered one of today’s top digital-imaging experts, cutting through lots of Photoshop “speak,” making it fun, easy and rewarding to work and play in the digital darkroom.
Bull Schmitt is the Director and Lead Instructor of LIGHT Photographic Workshops in Los Osos, California. Although new to the industry, Hal instructs all levels of photography, Lightroom, and Photoshop as if he’d been shooting for decades. His workshops and photo tours are recognized around the world as incredible learning experiences.
Many are surprised that someone so new to the photographic industry delivers such effective (some would even say “life changing”) training. What most do not know is although Hal first picked up a DSLR two years ago he spent six years as one of the most respected and sought after instructors in the world.
